Help us Chart the Course of WERA WERA is a not-for-profit organization of professionals working at all levels of education dedicated to improving the practice of instruction, assessment, evaluation, conducting and applying educational research, and using data to inform instructional decisions. WERA members work in a range of contexts supporting students across Washington, including early learning settings, schools, districts, community-based organizations, colleges and universities. WERA is committed to sharing knowledge to support educators’ work improving opportunities and outcomes for all students. We are hoping that you will consider serving on one of our organization’s committees below. Volunteering is a great way to get to know other WERA members and to contribute to our shared work in supporting education across our state: Membership Committee: Building community and welcoming new members are critical steps to sustaining WERA. Through outreach, and events like Book Studies, the Membership Committee seeks to engage educators across Washington to inform WERA’s work. Conference and Symposium Planning Committees: WERA’s annual Conference and Symposium provide opportunities for members to share research, evaluation studies and other current knowledge about supporting Washington’s students. Planning Committee members help set the learning agenda, recruit speakers and promote these events. Hot Topics Webinar Planning: The “Hot Topics” webinars address relevant education issues and/or highlight WERA offerings that will be of interest to members in short virtual meetings. Planning committee members identify members’ priorities, recruit speakers and facilitate webinars. Special Interest Groups: WERA Convenes two SIGs: The Network of Assessment Directors meets twice annually to discuss assessment data, share strategies for addressing work and to dialogue with OSPI about key developments statewide. The Data Visualization SIG meets to promote best practices and share information about data display and user dashboards.
